Nottingham Road Estate
The Nottingham Road estate is located close to the City’s main amenities and Darley Park. Built as an urban village in the 1900s, it is now a designated Conservation Area. The large buildings fronting Nottingham Road consist of a range of one and two bedrom flats and four-bedroom houses. These are not let as almshouses, having no age restrictions. Some premises are let commercially, including a cafe and public house. The Trust’s maintenance depot is also located on this estate.
The Almshouse estate is actually located in the streets that lie immediately behind Nottingham Road: on Keys Street, Alice Street and Robert Street. Here, there are 6 two-bedroom flats and 60 two-bedroom terraced houses. Each house has two reception rooms; two bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen and many have a ground floor toilet and/or shower room. All have gas central heating and double glazing. Each house also has its own back garden, which residents are required to maintain.
The estate benefits from a purpose-built community centre, and ample on-street parking with residents' parking permits available from Derby City Council.
