Vacancies & how to apply

Vacancies

Owing to the relatively small number of the Trust’s Almshouse properties and the type of housing involved, it is difficult to predict when vacancies will occur. The Trust usually fills its vacancies from people who have previously expressed an interest and whose applications are held on file.

How to apply

Applicants must be sixty years old or over and, in the case of couples, one must be of this age.

Applicants must currently live in, and have resided in for the past five years, the city of Derby. Applicants must be able to show that they are in need, hardship or distress arising from their present housing circumstances.

Initial application is by completing the Trust’s application form - available to download below.

When the Trust receives your application form, we will register you on our waiting list; noting your expressed preference for both location and type of accommodation. Take at look at the details of our four estates on these webpages in order to help you decide which one you would like to move to.

We will then visit you, or invite you for interview, prior to making any offer, to discuss your application in more detail. All applications are then reviewed as and when vacancies arise. You will be able to view the home before accepting the offer.
